Having literally written the book on pleating, George has weathered the storm of industrialization and outsourcing and remains one of the last true master craftsmen in the New York City Garment District. The steward of a vast knowledge handed down from five generations of master craftsmen, George has the ability to turn the most dramatic ideas and stunning visions into a reality.

Owner and operator of Tom’s Sons International Pleating, a fixture in the garment district for 50 years, founded by his grandfather Thomas, George can be found in his factory overseeing every inch of production, custom pleating and design.

On the subject of his now industry standard book: “Pleating: Fundamentals for Fashion Design”, George says “I learned this craft from my father since I was a child, just as he did from his mother. There is a continuum of knowledge that must be preserved. There is a beauty in art-to clothing-to fashion, but to foster that art and beauty the craft must be mastered, expanded and passed on. It was a Labor of love and I was fortunate that my father, Leon, was there to help guide me through the process before he passed on.”
