Juan Duyos was born and lives in Madrid . And despite the enormous success he has achieved as a designer , he says he never thought about dedicating himself to fashion. “I entered with Cecilia Paniaguain the school of Fine Arts and there we realized that we were simple numbers, we wanted to work in something smaller and we got into fashion “. Said and done. Together with Cecilia, he began to design his first garments, a job that he combined with his work for the designer Manuel Piña. Regarding his early years with one of the most emblematic designers of La Movida , Duyos recalls: “It was a fascinating few years , I was still studying, I met incredible people, I had the opportunity to learn from scratch, it was my first I was very excited … I appreciate this start of the race very much , and from Manuel I can say that I was still a genius “.

Returning to the tandem Juan and Cecilia, together they created Duyos & Paniagua , a breath of fresh air for local fashion -as the press claimed at the time- and the signing with which they debuted about the -at that time- Cibeles catwalk in 1997.

With their collection Coser y bailar , in September 1998, both are consolidated as a solid and innovative proposal within the well-adjusted panorama of the Spanish industry . The reception of his designs was such that they came to parade in London , a fact that Juan remembers with special affection: “We were very young and unconscious , we arrived there with a group of friends who helped us, it was a game and we were amazed. I remember Donatella Versace was there. “

The latest Duyos and Paniagua tandem collection is presented at Cibeles in February 1999 under the name Ven y verás . In the middle of that year the couple breaks their commercial union and continue their trajectories, Cecilia working for Sybilla and Juan with their own brand. “It was a decision agreed by both and in fact, I continue working on my signature with the same enthusiasm,” clarifies the designer.

In his new solo role , Duyos is confirmed as one of the most solvent designersof Fashion Week in Madrid and his debut at the Cibeles Catwalk is accompanied by the award for the best collection of that season. With the passage of the editions, Juan Duyos has expanded his activities and has been introducing himself in the design of glasses and accessories , in the creation of bridal suits, both male and female, and extending his production to other fields, outside of what strictly It is understood by fashion, as the clothes for the home.

Authentic survivor of the industry , his nose to create unique and timeless garments has remained intact over the years. He assures that the woman Duyos “is a woman with an eye in the past and another in the future ” and that her tissues “are almost always very classic. What is original is how you combine them , how you combine them and how you conceive the design “.  This way of seeing, filtering and translating have made the Duyos signature an own and recognizable style that, for the designer, is based on “my particular use of color, my mixtures of fabrics and the volumes and silhouettes of the house”.
